I love The Art of Simple blog. I've been a devoted reader for years (when it was called Simple Mom). And I also following Kat's blog, so the post I read last week wasn't too much of a surprise. Yet, the content was a great reminder.
Kat says this,
I realized that I needed to start waking up FOR my life, not TO my life. Even if it was just waking up 5 minutes earlier, I wanted to start my day with purpose. To remember why I do what I do, and fill my tank so I could serve and love others out of the overflow in me.
I haven't always been able to do this. Mommas with new kiddos in your home or little ones, just stop reading and go take a nap right now. This isn't for you!
But, if you now sleeping through the night regularly, this may help you start the day right.
A few months ago I started doing what Kat says is the unthinkable...I set an alarm.
I got up before my kids and started my day in peace and quiet.
And you know what?
It made a HUGE difference!
So, this week...
If you sleep through the night, maybe you could benefit by waking up FOR your life instead of to the demands of your life.
Wake up on your terms. Spend some quiet time in the Word. Pray for strength to get through the day. Listen to some worship music.
If you can, get your day started in a way that blesses you instead of leaves you feeling weary from the requests that can start before you even open your eyes.
I think you'd be amazed at how revolutionary this small practice might be to your life.
