Together in the Trenches is a gospel-driven non-profit ministry founded on Jesus and seeking to breathe life into weary foster and adoptive moms (on the left is our founding leadership team). This place is for women who are in the trenches, living life and raising kids who come from hard places. It's not always easy and it can be isolating at times. We have an idea though...

Let's lock arms and walk together in the trenches.

We don't have to live alone. We don't have to fear judgment. Instead, we can breathe life into each other. We can encourage each other to continue, step by step, on this adventure. We need to know that God has not left us and despite the difficult problems we face, we are not alone. God never leaves us, even in the midst of the darkest days of our journey. Not only that, but God has given us each other to live in community and build each other up.

Life in the trenches is not easy, but with God in us and with us, we know we have reason to hope! And we have each other to remind us of these beautiful gospel truths!

Weekly Periscope and Podcast

You can find us under the username TrenchesRetreat on the Periscope app from a mobile device. We broadcast live video encouragement at 9 pm ET each Wednesday. You can also watch our replays here or listen to the audio on the Together in the Trenches Podcast.

Saturday Boost Newsletter

Each Saturday morning at 5 am ET we send out written encouragement straight to your inbox. This newsletter is meant to give you a much-needed boost of encouragement to help you get through the weekend. You can learn more and subscribe to the newsletter here.

Annual Overnight Retreat

This is what started our whole ministry and what our heart beats for most strongly, wanting to creating a retreat experience made especially for foster and adoptive moms. The Retreat

We get it. Mothering is hard. Parenting is exhausting. Add in the extra struggles that come with foster and adoptive parenting and you can easily get weary from all the work. (At least we do!) Yet we believe that YOU are doing amazing work in your home and family!

We want you to join us for our retreat, coming weary and empty, expecting to be filled up!

Meet other foster and adoptive moms. Have fun. Be encouraged. Hear from an amazing speaker who will point us back to the Gospel Truths of mothering. Enjoy delicious food. Be pampered. Have time to pause and rest. Leave feeling refreshed.

By hosting our retreat, we are calling YOU out of your everyday, oftentimes chaotic life. By doing this, we are seeking to offer you a place of spiritual and physical refreshment where you can feel pampered, refueled, and reminded that you are not alone on this journey. Our goal is that by the end of our retreat, you will be prepared and more readily able to give fully to your family once you arrive back at home.

Our retreat is hosted at the beautiful Wooded Glen Retreat and Conference Center in Henryville, IN. The drive is about 30 minutes from downtown Louisville, KY. You can see the detailed retreat schedule below.

all-inclusive

Once you are registered, you are done. There is no need to get your wallet out once you arrive at the retreat. Your registration covers a welcome bag, all retreat materials and sessions, dinner on Friday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday, a double-occupancy room with a queen-sized bed to yourself, as well as snacks and refreshments throughout the retreat.

Additional Options

This year we are offering limited day passes in addition to our overnight registration tickets. There is also an optional Saturday night add-on to your registration ticket, if you are interested. Learn more about these options here.

Meet our 2016 Speaker: Erica Ho


Erica and her husband Calvin live in the North Nashville area where they are working diligently to raise four strong-willed but beautiful kids: Elliott, Lola, Charlotte and Liam. Their family was built by God's hands. Liam came home from Ethiopia at 9 months and Lola came home from China at 5 1/2 years old. In an effort to never say no to God's call on their lives, they bent all the "rules," broke birth order, artificially twinned, and opened their parameters to special needs.

Erica has an extensive history working in international orphan care and currently works part time for Storyteller Missions as a community coordinator. She travels to Uganda and Ethiopia as often as her schedule allows and leaves a portion of her heart there each time.

Erica also operates a lifestyle blog called Goodbye Normal that allows her to share trials and successes with others walking a similar path. Above all, her life is not her own, her family is never complete, and she finds that each day is another opportunity to give and receive grace.
