As we continue through the bleak days of winter, let's not be afraid to pursue the uncomfortable.
I have a habit of curling up under the covers and staying inside as the temperature creeps lower. But I am finding that it is more life-giving to me to enjoy the sunlight, despite the cold, than to stay couped up in the house. I just have to get started.
My goal this week: Bundle up and enjoy the sun. I'm going to stand outside, close my eyes, and let the light shine on my face.
Even if you don't feel like pursuing uncomfortable things this week, just get started.
I'm going to start by finding my shoes. Then I'll put them on. Then I'll grab my jacket.
Focus on one thing at time.
Not excited about a home visit? Try making cookies or doing something else to make it seem less stressful.
Start with finding that phone number before you worry about the difficult conversation you need to have.
Despite being woken up throughout the night, try to wake up and smile for ten seconds (literally force it) before your feet touch the ground.
Is after school time always a disaster? Try adding some kind of transitional activity first thing when you get home, like a tea party, or play an upbeat song and dance as you get the afternoon going.
